Applications open October 4, 2010 and close December 17, 2010.

Applications for the 2011 round of funding from the Mullewa Community Trust will open October 4, 2010 and close 4pm December 17, 2010.

Applicants will be advised of the results by 31st March 2011.

The Mullewa Shire Council receives funding from Mt Gibson Mining Ltd in accordance with an agreement entered into between the parties on 26th March 2004. This Public Benefit Agreement (PBA) provides for the Mullewa Shire Council to establish a special purpose bank account for receipt of monies from the Structural Adjustment Fund (SAF).

The Mullewa Shire Council has established a committee, which is empowered to recommend expenditure of funds from the (SAF). This committee is known as the Mullewa Community Trust.

The Mullewa Community Trust is authorised to recommend to the Council on the expenditure of funds from the SAF for the public benefit of the citizens of the Shire of Mullewa.

The Trust will look to support projects that will provide long-term social benefit to Mullewa. These may be in the areas of – youth leadership development, arts and cultural activities, sport and recreation, community welfare and tourism.

The aim of the Trust is to provide funds to programs, activities, events or facilities that assist in the ongoing development or maintenance of the recreational, social or cultural needs of members of the Mullewa community.

The objectives of the Mullewa Community Trust Grants Program are to:

• Encourage cooperation and sharing between community groups to ensure that a wide range of people can benefit from community resources,
• Increase the range of, and access to, quality community, recreational, social and cultural activities, programs and services,
• Support community development initiatives and socially responsible community activities,
• Support groups that are working to assist economically or socially disadvantaged people,
• Encourage the community to promote its region through promotional activities, and
• Encourage the development of excellence in recreational, sporting and cultural pursuits.

Applicants from the funding rounds prior to 2010 are required to complete the acquittal paperwork prior to the payment of the grant being made. Should your organisation require progress payments to finalise your project a request must be submitted to the Mullewa Community Trust Committee.
